British banking major Standard Chartered has introduced a new programme that allows private banking clients to invest in leading private investment funds.

Dubbed as Pegasus Series programme, the new product will offer investors the opportunity to gain exposure to industries and other asset classes that may be difficult to access on an individual basis.

The launch of the programme comes as HNW investors are looking to private equity as an alternative asset class to diversify their portfolio for higher returns.

Standard Chartered Bank commercial & private banking CEO Anna Marrs said: "Over the last two to three years, we have seen growing interest among our clients – particularly family offices across Asia – in private equity as it becomes increasingly challenging to earn a decent yield from the public markets in today’s low-interest rates environment.

"This is part of a phased approach through which we offer our private banking clients a series of unique, customised and exclusive offerings to remain relevant to their needs, particularly for the entrepreneurs across our footprint who are pre-disposed to external volatility through their businesses," added Marrs.
