Standard Chartered Private Bank continues to strengthen its ultra-high net worth (UHNW) team as it appoints Enoch Tan as managing director and regional head of UHNW clients in the ASEAN region, effective 1 July 2015.

With experience working for banks such as the Royal Bank of Canada, NM Rothschild & Sons, and UBS Investment Bank, Tan will be reporting from Singapore to head of global UHNW clients, Stephen Richards-Evans, and locally to regional head of ASEAN private banking clients, Peter Kok.

"With Asia Pacific leading the growth of UHNW wealth globally, we are excited to have Enoch join our specialist team of experts dedicated to meet both the corporate and private wealth needs of our UHNW clients. Particularly in the ASEAN region – where entrepreneurs are significant wealth creators – Enoch’s strong track record in advising and conceiving sophisticated solutions will facilitate relationship managers in delivering tailored offerings to our ultra wealthy clients and further solidify our positioning as the private bank for entrepreneurs," said Richards-Evans.

Despite job cuts in its retail and equities operations earlier this year, Standard Chartered seems to be on a hiring spree for its private banking arm. In the past year alone, the bank has appointed Alison May Chan as managing director for UHNW private banking in Greater China, Rahul Raswant as executive director of UHNW banking clients and Richard Pattle as vice chairman of private banking clients.
