Societe Generale Private Banking (Suisse) (SGPBS) has named Olivier Lecler as its new CEO, replacing Yves Thieffry.

Lecler will also chair the SGPBS Executive Committee and become a member of the Executive Committee of Societe Generale Private Banking (SGPB).

In his new role, Lecler will be responsible for refocusing SGPBS’ business and establish a new, targeted momentum for growth.

Lecler, who joined Societe Generale group as strategic studies manager in the finance and development department in 1996, was most recently deputy CEO of SGPBS. He also worked as financial and business development director of SG’s subsidiary Fimatex (now Boursorama) and became deputy CEO in 2003.

In 2006, Lecler joined SGAM where he held a number of executive roles including head of finance and operations, deputy to the deputy general manager, operations, chairman & CEO of SGAM Banque, COO of SGAM and CEO of SGAM AI and also as COO the global investment management & services division.

Lecler also served as CEO of Societe Generale Private Banking Monaco and deputy CEO of Societe Generale Bank & Trust, in charge of the private bank business in Luxembourg.

Meantime, Thieffry will become chairman of the board of SGPBS replacing Guillaume Lejoindre, who has stepped down to pursue other opportunities outside the group.

Thieffry’s hire underscores both the continuity of SGPBS’ strategy and its long-term commitment to Switzerland.

Thieffry, who joined the internal audit department of Societe Generale group in 1982, has held several roles such as deputy head of the services department of the large corporate division, general manager of Banco Supervielle Societe Generale in Argentina, general manager of Societe Generale in Madrid, head of human resources for Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking.

In 2007, he was named deputy CEO of Société Générale Private Banking and became in 2011, a member of its executive committee in charge of overseeing Luxembourg, Switzerland, Monaco and Middle-East’s businesses.
