International law firm SJ Berwin has appointed Rick Baumgartner, a McKinsey & Company executive, as its new COO, effective 9 September 2013.

Rick has more than ten years of experience at McKinsey. His role at McKinsey has involved integrating support functions, globalising policies and procedures, implementing robust financial risk management controls as well as cost and budget management.
Rick also has experience in managing and developing his global team of director of finance and administration with responsibility for finance, accounting, it, research, media, business development, facilities and property management, strategy, human resources and internal communications.
Rick qualified as an accountant with Touche Ross in 1984. Initially, he specialised in audit, taxation and financial services before moving to Ernst & Young as a senior manager working in the entrepreneurial services area, before later joining to the Australian Stock Exchange and then McKinsey.
