Sionic, a consulting firm focusing on financial services, has hired Shelley Doorey Williams from UBS as its partner to lead its specialist corporate governance team.

The team is part of Sionic’s Wealth Management & Private Banking practice.

The practice, with managing partner Gilly Green at its helm, includes specialists in London, Geneva as well as Singapore.

Green stated: “Shelley is a sector-leading expert in her field. We’re delighted she’s chosen to join the Sionic team to lead the growth of our new range of specialist services around corporate governance and board effectiveness.

“Her experience and background in this area, as well as the wider landscape of wealth management, significantly adds to the capabilities of our rapidly expanding team.”

At UBS, Williams was in charge of Wealth Planning for EMEA and also the deputy head of Investment Platforms & Solutions (IPS) for UK & Jersey.

Her other roles in IPS are head of Sales Facilitation, head of Corporate Employee Financial Services (CEFS) and chief of staff.

Her stint at UBS began in 2006. Prior to that, she managed her own firm that counselled on employee share plans.

Sionic has operations in Bogota, Geneva, Jersey, London, Madrid, Mumbai, New York, Singapore, Toronto, Zurich, and Tokyo. Its employee headcount is over 300.

The business serves asset and wealth managers, private banks, hedge and fund administrators, insurers, and investment banks, among others.
