A former branch manager of Switzerland’s Falcon Private Bank has been indicted by Singapore prosecutors as part of its probe over scandal-ridden Malaysian state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).   

The prosecutors have filed 16 charges against the branch manager named Jens Sturzenegger, who led Falcon's local Singapore branch. Among the charges include failure to report suspicious financial transactions and providing false information.

In October 2016, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) withdrew the licence of Falcon Private Bank and imposed fines on DBS and UBS over 1MDB dealings.

Several other banks have also been implicated in the1MDB scandal. In May 2016, MAS ordered Swiss lender BSI Bank to close its Singapore operations due to serious breaches of anti-money laundering requirements, poor management oversight, and gross misconduct by some of its employees.

Last month, MAS fined the Singapore branches of Standard Chartered Bank and Coutts for violation of anti-money laundering requirements linked to 1MDB.
