Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and the Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to facilitate mutual efforts in building capital markets in Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam, and to encourage greater cross-border activities, particularly in Islamic capital markets.

The MOU was signed by Datuk Ranjit Ajit Singh, Chairman of SC and Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Rosli bin Haji Sabtu, Managing Director of AMBD, in Bandar Seri Begawan on 29 October 2013.

The MOU provides a framework for the two authorities to explore mutually beneficial opportunities to enhance greater access to the respective capital markets, and to promote investment activities aligned with the objectives of ASEAN capital market integration.

The MOU also strengthens cooperation in the areas of regulation, capacity building and human capital development between the two authorities.

Datuk Ranjit Ajit Singh said "This collaborative partnership is an important initiative in our efforts to grow our capital markets and to create greater channels for investor participation in our respective markets including in the area of Islamic wealth management."
