The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has named Christopher Hetner to the newly-created position of Senior Advisor to the Chair for Cybersecurity Policy.
Hetner will serve as a senior advisor to SEC chairwoman Mary Jo White on all cybersecurity policy matters.

Hetner in his new role will also coordinate SEC’s efforts to address cybersecurity policy, engaging with external stakeholders, and strengthening its mechanisms to evaluate broad-based market risk.
He currently serves as the cybersecurity lead for the Technology Control Program within SEC’s Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations (OCIE), responsible for coordinating cybersecurity efforts across OCIE and advising on enforcement matters.
He joined SEC in January 2015 from Ernst and Young (EY), where he headed the wealth and asset management sector cybersecurity practice from November 2012 to January 2015.
