Scotiabank has named Jean-François Perrault as its new chief economist, replacing Warren Jestin – who will retire on 1 March 2016 after working with the bank for nearly four decades.

Perrault, whose appointment is effective from 31 December 2015, will report to Sean McGuckin, group head and CFO.

He will be in charge for providing Scotiabank’s senior executives, partners and customers with economic perspectives, insights and forecasts.

Perrault previously held roles with the federal government, The Bank of Canada, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

Scotiabank group head and chief financial officer Sean McGuckin said: "Jean-François’ in-depth analytical knowledge on a wide range of economic and fiscal issues, along with his extensive experience will be a tremendous asset to Scotiabank."
