Additionally, SRZ intends to employ as many as a dozen lawyers for the new practice.
The new London practice mainly aims to serve the firm’s US clients, who are expanding into European activism, the FT report added.
The move comes as the firm’s US clients are planning to examine positions in UK-based companies and follows record inflows into US activist funds that are offering ammunition for their managers.
SRZ serves many clients in the US including Barry Rosenstein’s Jana Partners, Paul Singer’s Elliott Management and Trian Partners.
