British fund manager Schroders has appointed Canon Yau as the new director of strategic partnerships for its Asian Real Estate team.
Yau will be responsible for sourcing capital for the firm’s UK and European strategies from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong as well as other Asian countries. He will be based in Hong Kong for the new role.

Schroders global head of real estate Duncan Owen said: “In this role Canon will work closely with John Chantrell, Makoto Fukui, Philipp Ellebracht and I. Canon brings a wealth of relevant experience to the role having worked in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Sydney, Dubai and Abu Dhabi with major Investors, Developers and Investment Banks.
“The new hire comes as the Schroders Real Estate team continues to expand its presence around the world, particularly in Asia and the US.”
Yau previously worked as a senior director at CBRE Capital Advisors in Hong Kong. He held this role for five years, with responsibility for capital raising and cross-border investment.
