British fund manager Schroders has appointed Peter Harrison to the board as head of investment with immediate effect.

Harrison, who began his career at Schroders in 1988, was previously the firm’s global head of equities.

In past, Harrison has also held roles at Newton as a portfolio manager, at JPMorgan as head of global equities and multi-asset, at Deutsche Asset Management as global chief investment officer and at RWC Partners as chairman and chief executive.

Andrew Beeson, the group’s chairman, said: "Peter’s appointment to the board as head of investment reflects the strong growth the firm has seen in recent years, managing £268 billion as at 31 March 2014."
