Sarasin & Partners, the London-based asset managers, have appointed a new fund manager to its team.

Phil Collins, has joined a team of portfolio managers who oversee £5.2 billion ($7.02 billion) of multi asset class portfolios.

Previously Collins spent 18 years with Newton Asset Management where he was the CIO of the private client and charities division.

In his previous role Collins was responsible for the investment process and performance of £9 billion of client assets.

In addition Collins established, and was lead manager for, the Newton Phoenix range of funds which consistently outperformed the sector.
