Cordery managed the UK domiciled and offshore portfolios at Schroders.

He left Schroders in July, 2012 where he ran the group’s Monthly High Income fund. He was replaced by Patrick Vogel who joined Schroders from Legal & General.

Dolores Ybarra, Santander Asset Management’s global chief investment officer, said: "Adam Cordery’s appointment to our team will strengthen Santander Asset Management’s capabilities in this asset class, with a special focus in the area of credit.

"This is a key appointment in growing our institutional business worldwide, as he manages an asset class which is in high demand from institutional clients."
