The publication quoted Craig Massey, chief executive of Sanlam Private Investments, saying that the hires were "part of our plan to build up our presence across the whole UK, with a view to increasing our asset base and range of services available to investors".

"Actions speak louder than words and the fact that we are recruiting across the private client, wealth management, securities and intermediary services side is a sign of SPI’s commitment both to clients and financial advisers," Massey said.

The other hires include Simon Woodiwiss as senior investment manager for the South East private client team, Paul Mansfield as an investment manager for the South West regional private client team, Simon Lee as a senior investment manager in the intermediary services team and Eloise Cox and Nick Wessels as paraplanners on the wealth management team.

Sanlam has also hired Stuart Rosling and Dean Sherrin as private client advisory stockbrokers, and Charles Long as a mining analyst for Sanlam Securities.
