Royal London Asset Management (RLAM) has named Piers Hillier as its new chief investment officer, effective 5 January 2015.

Hillier will replace Robert Talbut, who is set to leave the firm at the end of the year after a spell of 10 years.

In his new role, Hillier will be tasked for driving forward RLAM’s investment capabilities and expanding its investment offering to attract new business.

RLAM said that its business reported new external business inflows of £1.31bn for Q2 2014.

Hillier joined RLAM from Kames Capital where he worked as head of international equities. Prior to this, he served as CIO at LV Asset Management and West LB Asset Management.

Hillier appointment is currently subject to FCA approval.
