Additionally, the firm has named portfolio manager Anton Schutz to manage the new strategy.

Schutz has founded Mendon Capital Advisors Corp in 1996 with a long/short and event driven investment strategy focused on investing in the financial services sector.

Schutz will work alongside assistant portfolio manager Russell Echlov. Previously, Echlov has worked at Mendon Capital Advisors from 1997 to 2001.

Blair Haarlow, managing principal, Iron Road Capital Partners, said: "With its exclusive focus on the financial services sector, this strategy fills a niche investment category not covered by our existing strategies — long/short stressed debt and another long/short U.S. equity strategy that specifically excludes financials and energy stocks."
