"We feel that even though the industry conditions are challenging or more particularly because they’re challenging, it’s creating a lot of opportunity to invest for the long term," On Wall Street quoted Lewis as saying.
Lewis also added that though the primary reason for RBC’s year over year decline was decreased client transactions, the bank will continue to concentrate capital infusions into that segment, since it is considered as an organic focus.

Currently RBC has around 2,000 advisors and has made over 300 hires in the last five years.
"The nature of organic growth means hiring client facing professionals together with having them attract clients to your platform and over time broadening and deepening that relationship with your client base," Lewis told On Wall Street.
He also added that the bank is not looking at straight revenue numbers to gauge the success of their initiatives, since revenue numbers are volatile due to lower transaction volumes, and their large-scale investments.
Further, Lewis stated that apart from its organic growth, the bank also consider acquisitions.
