Ahrens, who joined PrivateBancorp in 2007, will be responsible for private wealth services, which includes trust, investment management, and private banking.
Prior to working in the PrivateBank, he had spent 15 years with LaSalle Bank and its parent company, ABN-AMRO, in a variety of roles.

Post-appointment, Ahrens will continue to lead the community banking group, composed of retail, small business and mortgage banking, the bank said in its statement.
