Principal Global Investors, the asset management unit of US-based Principal Financial Group, has named Suresh Singh as head of funds distribution for Asia.

He will be based in Singapore and will report to the firm’s global head of wealth advisory services Nick Lyster and head of the south-east Asian region Celestine Khoo.

Singh most recently served at BlackRock, where he managed the build-out of the wealth and asset management relationship management team for iShares ETFs.

Prior to that, he served at Macquarie, where he managed the fund of hedge funds business in Sydney and later moved to Singapore to expand the sales efforts in Southeast Asia. He previously also served at Bankers Trust and National Australia Bank.

Lyster said that the new appointment “is part of our strategy to build our relationships with wealth managers.”

 “We are currently expanding our fund distribution business in Europe and Asia to wealth managers, particularly private banks, and plan to bring in investment and sales professionals accordingly to help manage our growing business and ambitions in these regions,” Lyster said.
