John Longhurst, the head of emerging markets equity research of Pacific Investment Management Company (Pimco), has left the company.

Based at the company’s London office, Longhurst was also a global industrials and defence/security analyst of the company.

Longhurst’s replacement has not been finalised. However, the company has assigned the industrials research role to Martin Moorman.

Michael Reid, a spokesperson for Pimco, stated: "After a 28-year career, John Longhurst has decided to step back from the industry for personal reasons. We appreciate his contributions and wish him the very best in his future endeavours."

Prior to joining Pimco in 2011, he was a partner, global industrials and defence analyst and portfolio manager at Capital International, part of The Capital Group Companies, where he worked for 15 years.

Longhurst’s departure comes six months after the departure Neel Kashkari, the firm’s global head of equities, for he wanted to pursue a career in politics. The company has appointed Marc Seinder as the replacement for Kashkari.
