As the chief investment officer, Mentel will be responsible for leading development at the firm’s new investment management business Tatton which is due to launch later this year.
Mentel was formerly, the chief investment officer for Octopus Investments.

Mentel was made redundant from Octopus in December following a staff review at the firm.
Commenting on Mentel’s appointment, Paradigm partner Anthony Morrow said: "We have known Lothar for several years through our close working relationship with Octopus Investments. He is one of the most experienced and knowledgeable individuals in the industry."
While Mentel remarked: "Paradigm’s decision to launch an independent investment management business is a significant one for the group and the wider asset management industry and I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to lead its development and growth."
