Old Mutual Wealth has named John Porteous as its retail customer solutions director, a newly created position.

Porteous will be responsible for setting up the firm’s retail customer solutions team that will work across the firm’s various business units to improve offering and client experience.

The new team will focus “where advisers and customers are choosing to access multiple parts of the Old Mutual Wealth proposition”, Old Mutual Wealth said in a statement.

Porteous most recently served as the client proposition head at British wealth manager Tilney. He left the firm in March 2017, a year following Tilney’s purchase of his former employer Towry.

He previously also served as head of wealth management at Baker Tilly.
