Old Mutual has appointed Bruce Hemphill as its new group CEO, replacing Julian Roberts as part of an orderly succession plan.

Hemphill, who will be based in London, is expected to join in the new role during the fourth quarter of this year. Roberts will remain as group CEO till Hemphill’s start date.

At present, Hemphill serves as CEO at Standard Bank Group’s Wealth, Insurance and Non-Bank Financial Services.

Between June 2006 and February 2014, he held the role of CEO at African financial services provider Liberty Group.

Prior to joining Liberty, he held various positions in asset management and banking.
