Old Mutual Global Investors (OMGI) has hired Paul Emerton as new head of UK stewardship and governance.

In his new role, Emerton will work together with the UK equities team to enhance corporate performance and standards of governance.
Emerton will report to his former colleague from Schroders Richard Buxton, OMGI head of UK equities.

Prior to joining OMGI, Emerton with 25 years of experience advising fund managers, most recently served as head of governance at Schroders.

Buxton said: "Ensuring that companies in which we invest have good boards, genuinely independent non-executive directors and an appropriate incentive structure makes a real difference to outcomes for our clients.
