Old Mutual Global Investors (OMGI), part of Old Mutual Wealth, has appointed Richard Mo to the newly created role of China business head.

Mo will be responsible to develop relationships with regulators, global financial institutions and distributors in the region.

He will be based out of OMGI’s Hong Kong office, and will report to Asia Pacific managing director Carol Wong.

Prior to joining OMGI, Mo worked for 16 years at JP Morgan Asset Management, where he held various roles in a distribution capacity, and building client relationships across Taiwan, Hong Kong and China.

Most recently, he served as head of China retail business, responsible for wealth management and client development in retail markets in China, dealing with both Chinese and foreign banks.

Commenting on the appointment, Wong said: “Richard’s appointment reflects our ongoing desire to expand into markets where we believe we can offer a varied range of investment solutions that meet the demands of an increasingly sophisticated client base. Richard has significant experience developing client relationships in China and I look forward to working with him.”
