Old Mutual International, part of Old Mutual Wealth, has appointed Mike Leeson as new head of distribution development to support the international advisor market through regulatory and business transformation.

Leeson, who is currently head of sales in Hong Kong and northeast Asia, will relocate to UK assume the new role.

In his new role, Leeson will oversee the transformation activities across Old Mutual’s international business, and will also be responsible for managing relationships with global key accounts.

Prior to his new role, Leeson has worked as a senior member of the distribution team in Hong Kong for the past eight years. He also worked with Old Mutual Wealth in the UK for nine years.

Meanwhile, Mark Christal will become head of region Northeast Asia and CEO Hong Kong.

"There is increasing demand from financial advisors in a number of markets for support to help them transition their business and adapt to changing regulation and customer needs," the company said in a statement.

"Regulation is the biggest driver of change in many regions, and advisors need to stay ahead if they are to grow and prosper in the new world," it added.
