Offshore firm Ogier has shifted its two London-based lawyers back to Jersey, with its City office now focused completely on trust and administration services, according to The Lawyer.

London managing partner Simon Dinning and senior associate Wendy Walker relocated to Jersey last week as the London office moved to Old Jewry from its previous home on Lothbury.

Dinning said that the Ogier staff continuing to be in London will focus on group services and administration.

Dinning stated that Ogier had decided to consolidate its offering for clients to focus on cross-border deals.

"What we’re finding more and more as we’re working on cross-jurisdictional deals it would be really good to have us sitting in the Ogier mother ship, as it were," Dinning said.

"British Virgin Islands work remained his main focus. Dinning and other Ogier lawyers will continue to fly to London regularly for client meetings.

"Strategically it makes a lot of sense as to what we’re doing on a cross-jurisdictional basis," Dinning added.

Dinning said that clients had been responsive to the decision and stressed that the firm had not shut down in London and the office would still be available for lawyers to use.
