Ogier, an offshore legal advice provider, has hired Matthew Shaxson as new partner for its Jersey office.

In his new role, Shaxson will join the firm’s business and trust law team.

Ogier said that Shaxson appointment will add further strength and depth to Ogier’s funds offering.

Shaxson previously worked with Ogier on the management buyout of its fiduciary business. He also brings with him extensive knowledge and experience of mergers and acquisitions in the financial services sector.

Shaxson joined Ogier from Mourant Ozannes, where he worked as a managing associate.

He also served as a lead on a number of notable deals, including Standard Life’s acquisition of Newton’s private wealth business, Kleinwort Benson’s acquisition of Close Offshore and CBPE Capital’s acquisition of JTC Group.
