American investment management firm Northern Trust has revealed plans to expand its Indian operations by opening an office of Northern Operating Services Private Limited (NOSPL) in Pune.

The new office, scheduled to open in July 2016, is expected to employ more than 500 employees within two years.

The office will be headed by Mano Mathews, who will report to Mosur Saisekar, head of NOSPL in India.

Mathews, who has 17 years of experience in financial services, joined Northern Trust in 2009 and was most recently head of hedge fund services in Bangalore.

The company’s Indian offices offer vital business operations for its global clients including alternative, multi-manager and traditional investment managers, pension funds, multi-nationals, insurance companies and not-for-profit organisations.
