Northern Trust has named Susan Levy as its new executive vice president and general counsel, with effect from 1 May 2014.
In his new role, Levy will report to chairman and CEO Frederick Waddell and will also serve on Northern Trust’s management group and operating group.

Levy will be replacing Kelly Welsh, who left the firm to serve as general counsel of the US Department of Commerce.
Prior to joining Northern Trust, Levy has served as the managing partner of Jenner & Block since July 2008, advising clients related to complex business litigation, and has also served as lead trial counsel in state and federal matters and international arbitrations.
Waddell said: "Susan has achieved a distinguished career as a highly respected lawyer, counselor and business leader. In addition to legal expertise, she brings tremendous judgment and business acumen to her new role. We look forward to Susan joining Northern Trust’s senior management team as a member of the Management and Operating groups."
