Nikko Asset Management (Nikko AM) has appointed Mitsuaki Hasegawa as its chief compliance officer, effective 7 October 2013.

Hasegawa has 24 years experience in various compliance and auditing roles and will report to Charles Beazley, president and CEO of the Tokyo-based company.

Hasegawa is joining Nikko AM from Mitsubishi Corp-UBS Realty Inc and has held various roles in a number of large institutions, including Sanwa Bank, Merrill Lynch, Japan, and Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Japan.

Nikko AM chief legal officer, Ross Long, has been serving as interim since his own appointment in June.

Founded in 1959, Nikko AM provides its services primarily to pooled investment vehicles. The firm also caters to pension and profit sharing plans, banking or thrift institutions, charitable organizations, state or municipal government entities, government affiliated agencies, and other businesses.
