Neuberger Berman, a US-based investment management firm, has rolled out a new long/short multi-manager fund that focuses on global equities.

Managed by the firm’s hedge fund solutions group, the Dublin domiciled Ucits fund will invest in hedge funds employing long/short strategies.

The fund aims to achieve long-term capital appreciation with a secondary objective of principal preservation by allocating to external hedge fund advisers.

The fund has been launched in response to client demand for focused single strategy portfolios as well as multi strategy UCITS fund.

The Hedge Fund Solutions group, which manages over $4bn, includes managing directors David Kupperman, Fred Ingham, Jeff Majit and Eric Weinstein, and senior vice president Ian Haas.

Dik van Lomwel, head of EMEA and Latin America at Neuberger Berman, said: "This new fund will invest in equity focused long short strategies diversified across managers, geographies and sectors, allowing investors to gain exposure to active long and short stock selection whilst reducing exposure to general market risk."
