The Rena Group, a New York-based multi-family office and private asset management firm, has renamed itself as New Amsterdam Group.

In addition, the company has expanded its team by appointing Kevin Heaton as new partner of the firm and also added Laurence Norton and Ric Saalwachter to its board of advisors.

In his new role, Heaton will primarily focus on real estate asset management.

Also, the firm has hired Sean Mulrenan as new senior analyst.

Prior to joining New Amsterdam Group, Heaton held roes at firm including Bucephale Asset Management, where he was responsible for developing the firm’s presence in the US and also as CFO of Standard Services Corporation. He began his career in 1996 as a wealth management advisor with Merrill Lynch.

Norton has previously worked as a senior executive in securities brokerage, private equity and family office roles including managing director with Berwind Private Equity, president of Prudential Securities International as well as president of the futures division and also as senior vice president at Shearson Lehman Bros.

Saalwachter has earlier developed energy banking groups for the Sanders Morris Group, Canaccord, and PrinceRidge Group. Prior to this, he worked in investment banking with Shearson Lehman and started his career with Warburg Paribas Becker. He is currently a managing director at StormHarbor Securities.

Mulrenan joined the firm from Mount Kellett Capital Management, where he served as an analyst. Before to this, Sean worked at Interactive Brokers, a broker-dealer, under the CFO of the brokerage business.
