India-based Edelweiss Financial Services (EFS) has appointed Ambareesh Baliga as managing partner for global wealth management.

In his new role, Baliga will report to Anshu Kapoor, head of global wealth management for EFS.

Baliga brings has 28 years of experience in different facets of the wealth management industry and has been acknowledged for his acumen and understanding of the stock market.

Prior to joining EFS, Baliga was the chief operating officer of Way 2 Wealth Securities where he set up the wealth management business along with its institutional business, and restructured the existing research team.

In his earlier roles, Baliga has had long stints with Karvy Group, Kotak Mahindra Group and PwC and has worked across sectors such as Corporate Finance, Auto Finance, Merchant Banking, Retail Finance and stock broking.

At Karvy, he set up the institutional business, research and private client group. He was also responsible for the overseas foray in New York, Dubai and Singapore.
