Morgan Stanley Wealth Management has deployed mobile cheque deposit software from NCR, into its new mobile app for iPhone.

The new functionality will enable Morgan Stanley’s wealth management clients to deposit cheques on the go, according to NCR.

Morgan Stanley’s new wealth management app features technology from NCR partner Mitek that makes taking a suitable photo of a cheque using a mobile phone camera.

Mitek MiSnap gives onscreen instructions to clients to enable them properly orient the cheque in the photo frame and then click a photo of the cheque automatically.

Then the cheque deposit is verified and transmitted using the new NCR APTRA Passport for Mobile software, which delivers safe and reliable cheque processing, claims NCR.

NCR Financial Services vice president and payments general manager Steve Nogalo said, “A new breed of consumers expects more from their mobile interaction with their financial institution.”
