M&G Investments, a unit of UK-based insurance firm Prudential, has received a Type I license from Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) that permits it to expand scope of its marketing activities to professional investors.
Following the license, the firm has set up a new legal entity in Hong Kong, M&G Investments (Hong Kong).

Andrew Hendry, managing director, M&G Asia, said: "This license permits us to show to Hong Kong investors how our tried and tested approach to investment has benefited clients across Europe and attracted assets of more than US$391 billion."
"Having established our operation in Asia in 2012 to service clients in the region, it is a natural next step to expand our marketing activities to fulfill the growing demand for our products among investors in Hong Kong," he added.
M&G Investments, with offices in Singapore and Hong Kong, now manages almost US$4 billion for clients in Asia. It offers active investment strategies across equities, fixed income and real estate.
