MetLife UK has named Helen Thomas as new head of wealth management marketing.

In his new role, Thomas will oversee a marketing team seeking to capitalize on retirement income rule changes announced in March’s Budget.

Thomas has joined MetLife from Aviva where she worked for 17 years, most recently serving as head of marketing communications, responsible for all marketing activity for Aviva’s Life business.

MetLife said that its unit-linked guarantee market is set to nearly treble to £4 billion a year by the end of 2015.

MetLife head of marketing for Western Europe Claire Oldstein said: "The retirement income reforms present considerable opportunities for us. Sales of guaranteed products, which offer flexibility and certainty, will take a much bigger share of the retirement income market in the future as innovation and competition increases."
