Insurer MetLife is in talks with MassMutual Financial Group over a possible sale of its US advisor group, MetLife Premier Client Group.

MetLife in a statement said that there can be no assurance that an agreement will be reached or that a transaction will be made.

The Premier Client Group is part of MetLife’s US retail operation, which is based in Ballantyne Corporate Park’s Gragg and Woodward buildings.

The group currently includes a sales force of about 4,000 agents. MassMutual now has about 5,600 agents.

Also, MassMutual has confirmed that it was in talks to acquire MetLife’s US advisory group, but that it didn’t reveal a time frame for any possible agreement.
