Expedia, Inc., an online travel company, has acquired Orbitz Worldwide, Inc., an online travel company, for an enterprise value of approximately $1.6 bn. Both companies involved in the transaction are based in the US. Under the terms of the agreement, Expedia paid $12 in cash for each common shares of Orbitz, representing a premium of 29% over the volume weighted average share price for the five trading days up to and including February 11, 2015.
