British law firm Penningtons Manches has expanded its overseas presence by opening a office in San Francisco’s financial district.

The San Francisco office will be headed by corporate and technology partner James Klein and IP/IT partner Hamish Corner.

It will provide English law advice on corporate, IP, immigration, and employment matters for US businesses, in particular technology-focused companies, undertaking corporate activity in the UK and Europe.

Through the new office, the firm will also aim to boost its existing cross-border M&A practice in addition to strengthening its position as a US/UK inward investment specialist.

The office will also assist other sectors including cloud-based IT services, data analytics and big data, internet and e-commerce, life sciences and renewable energy.
