Dechert, a US-based law firm, has opened a new office in Singapore, the group’s third office in Asia after opening offices Hong Kong and Beijing in 2007 and 2008 respectively.

The new office Singapore will initially focus on investment fund formation, advising investment funds, their investment managers and other industry participants.

Additionally, the firm has appointed Dean Collins from O’Melveny & Myers as managing partner of the new office.

Collins practice focuses on investment fund formation, advising investment funds, their investment managers and other industry participants in Asia.

Prior to joining O’Melveny & Myers, Collins worked for private equity firm Actis and served as a consultant at UBS and Merrill Lynch.

Dechert CEO Daniel O’Donnell said that the firm is seeking to add an international arbitration component to Singapore.
