Kern will be based in Chicago and succeed Peter Schaff, who announced last year that he has decided to step down from his position.

He will report to Jeff Jacobson, global CEO, and will join the company’s Global Management Committee and the North American Private Equity Investment Committee.
Kern joins LaSalle from HSBC, where he has been a managing director and head of HSBC’s Asia-Pacific Real Estate & Lodging Advisory Group.
Prior to HSBC, Kern spent 17 years at JP Morgan, principally in senior roles within the real estate investment banking team, and was based in JP Morgan offices in the US, UK, Continental Europe and Hong Kong.
