Accounting firm KPMG’s Netherlands affiliate head Jurgen van Breukelen has resigned following a criminal investigation by Dutch authorities into possible tax evasion by a joint venture (JV), established to build a new headquarters.
KPMG’s board of management in the Netherlands chairman Breukelen said that he is leaving the firm to safeguard the interests of the firm, its clients and its employees, which have been damaged and need to be restored.

The Supervisory Board, in close consultation with KPMG International, will nominate a candidate to fill the position of chairman of the board of management of KPMG Netherlands.
The Dutch public prosecutor said it had initiated a probe into a JV between KPMG and a developer over suspected tax fraud regarding the construction of its new Amstelveen headquarters.
