The index follows the 100 biggest listed companies which derive at least 50% of their revenues from environmental themes.
The Ecology fund will continue to use the FTSE World index as its main benchmark but fund manager Thomas said the new index would help investors measure the fund’s performance against a more directly relevant benchmark.
FTSE director David Harris said, "We are delighted that Jupiter is the first to adopt the new FTSE ET100 Index for the renowned Jupiter Ecology fund. It’s extremely fitting as we have both been pioneers in our respective industries for supporting environmental market investing."
