UK-based fund management group Jupiter Asset Management has appointed James Clunie, Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP) UK equity manager, effective July 2013 onwards.
In his new role, Clunie will help develop Jupiter’s total return and equity long-short offering.

Clunie, who has been at SWIP since April 2007, managed the GBP51.8 million (US$2.75 million) SWIP UK Flexible Strategy fund, GBP116 million SWIP UK Opportunities fund, GBP46.7million Scottish Widows Select Growth fund and the GBP72.4million TU Unit fund.
He also co-managed the SWIP UK Income fund with Richard Dunbar, chair investment director.
Following the repositioning of the group’s equities strategy last year, Clunie had been managing the UK Opportunities fund on an interim basis.
Additionally, Tony Foster will assume responsibility for managing the SWIP UK Flexible Strategy fund while Mark Phillips will continue as back-up manager.
