Swiss private banking giant Julius Baer has named Gerassimos Spyridakis as head of a newly created sub-region Africa & Eastern Mediterranean, effective 1 January 2016.
Additionally, Daniel Savary , who is current sub-region head of Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East & Africa (EMMEA), will now fully focus on leading the Middle Eastern markets, the bank said in a press statement.

Savary will report to Rémy Bersier, region head southern Europe, Middle East and Africa (SEMEA) and member of the executive board.
Spyridakis in his new role will be responsible for Africa, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey. He too will report to Bersier and become member of the management committee of the region SEMEA.
Spyridakis held various senior management positions at Citi Private Bank, including the roles of Global Head of Greece & Cyprus, Israel, Monaco and Africa prior to joining Julius Baer.
Commenting on the appointment, Bersier said: "I am pleased to be able to continue building on Daniel’s broad expertise in the Middle East and teaming up with him in strategic projects. At the same time, I am delighted that Gerassimos agreed to assume this new responsibility.
