Swiss private bank Julius Baer has strengthened its investment management team by appointing Bhaskar Laxminarayan as the CIO of Asia.

Laxminarayan will take over the newly created CIO function on 1 September 2016. He will be based in Singapore and will also lead the bank’s IM arm in Asia.

Laxminarayan, who has an experience of over 23 years in multi-asset investing in Asia, most recently served at Pictet Wealth Management. He held the role of CIO at Pictet as of 2007, responsible for the investment strategy in Asia.

He previous roles include CIO at Shinsei Asset Management and portfolio manager at Alliance Bernstein.

In addition, the bank has appointed Christoph Landolt as its new head portfolio management international, effective from 1 September 2016.

Landolt will be responsible for all international locations, excluding Asia, within the bank’s global discretionary solutions unit. 

He joined the Swiss private bank in 2015 in the role of head global portfolio management business development. He previously also served at RMF Investment Management/Man Investments in Switzerland and London for over a decade in various senior roles.
