JPMorgan Chase chairman and chief executive Jamie Dimon in an internal memo to employees revealed that he has been diagnosed with throat cancer, but said he will continue to run the bank.

Dimon said the cancer is curable and "the prognosis from doctors is excellent" after multiple tests confirmed the cancer is confined in the lymph nodes on the right side of his neck.

He will undergo radiation and chemotherapy treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan for the next eight weeks and curtail his travel.

"I feel very good now and will let all of you know if my health situation changes," Dimon said.

Since Dimon became chief executive, JPMorgan has emerged as the largest US bank with a stock that’s climbed 45% during his tenure.
