JPMorgan Asset Management (JPMAM) has selected Malcolm Smith as its new head of client portfolio management within the European equity group.

Prior to joining JPMAM, Smith worked with BlackRock, where he acted as a managing director and product strategist within the firm’s fundamental equity business, as reported by moneymarketing.co.uk.

Operating out of London, he will spearhead a team of eight client portfolio managers.

Smith, who will report to chief investment officer for European equities Michael Barakos, will take the place of interim team leader Karsten Stroh who is relocating to Frankfurt in June.

Michael Barakos was quoted by moneymarketing.co.uk as saying, "Malcolm is a proven client portfolio manager with a wealth of experience."

"He is a great complement to the current team, which has an average of 14 years of industry experience, and he joins at an exciting time for the European equities business," Barakos told the publication.
